is >355,000.00. At the December 1954 meeting ot the board ot Di

budget Committee, over various items in the budget.
D uring the course ot the joint meeting some mention was made
about l ire Insurance on the New J I.gli School. O ne member ot the
budget conunittee who is 111 tlu insurance business was present and
was asked certain questions by directors ot the school board, there
is no record o t the questions asked or answered in the minutes o t
th e meeting, however, when the budget conunittee was excused the
question about placing insurance was discussed and as a result .1
n otion was made, seconded and carried that the l ire Insurance on
the new high school I k - given to Knox Insurance Agency.
Mr. Knox is a incmlxfr of the budget committee. 1 bis same
a; cut was favored with the “ KuilJers Risk” while the building is
under construction. There are five insurance agents in Brookings and
tour ot these agents did not know that the School Board was going
and take action at the December lit ctuig about covering llie new' nign

apeeial meeting through one Seiiooi dneetor which was held on
January 10, ail agents being present. At this meeting each agent had
.111 op|)ortunity to state what his company could do and what we

After much discussion we were informed by the acting chairman
that the School Board had entered mt,- .in agreement with the Knox
agency and the acting chairman would not w ithdraw Ins motion and
’die director who seconded the motion would not change Ins vote

O ne director who was absent at the previous meeting stated lie*

Record he apjxtinted by the School Board who in conjunction w ith the
other agents 111 Brookings would work out an equitable division of
the School Insurance to the end th •f the best (overage possible would
