8:00 p. m.. the Officers of the Em
blem Club of Crescent City, Cal
ifornia, m et w ith the Ladies of
the Brookings, Oregon, connected
with m em bers of the B. P. O E.
No. 194, for the purpose of form
ing the Brookings Em blem Club
and electing Officers.

Republican County Com m ittee as
follow s:
“I find it a hard task to under
stand Mr Hall in this m atter.
About two years ago, when a va
cancy in the office of D istrict At- ,
torney occured. Sam was very
willing to get the County Com-1
m ittee to recom mend him for the
position. The recom m endation of
the Com m ittee probably secured
his appointm ent for him.
L ast May when he was running
for the party nom ination he was
very much concerned th at a can
didate from Gold Beach might get
the nomination. At that tim e he
intim inated th at Brookings and
H arbor should not accept d icta
tion from Gold Beach.
Now, a fte r we have elected
him D istrict Attorney, he ignores
the County Committee. He also
circulates a petition for his choice
in Gold Beach, which is not includ
ed in the area covered by th
Justice of the Peace for Brook
ings and H arbor, and uses th is '
Gold Beach petition to support
the appointm ent of his candidate
to the office I cannot understand I
why Gold Beach should be called
upon to decide the problem o f )
Brookings and H arbor. The m a t
ter of the appointm ent of this
Justice of the Peace was purely
a l<x?al m atte r of concern to who j
reside in Southern C urry C ounty.”
