About two years ago, when a va­ cancy in the office of D istrict At- , torney occured. Sam was very willing to get the County Com-1 m ittee to recom mend him for the position. The recom m endation of the Com m ittee probably secured his appointm ent for him. L ast May when he was running for the party nom ination he was very much concerned th at a can­ didate from Gold Beach might get the nomination. At that tim e he intim inated th at Brookings and H arbor should not accept d icta­ tion from Gold Beach. Now, a fte r we have elected him D istrict Attorney, he ignores the County Committee. He also circulates a petition for his choice in Gold Beach, which is not includ­ ed in the area covered by th Justice of the Peace for Brook­ ings and H arbor, and uses th is ' Gold Beach petition to support the appointm ent of his candidate to the office I cannot understand I why Gold Beach should be called upon to decide the problem o f ) Brookings and H arbor.
