BROOKINGS BEAVERS SPLIT TWO WITH GRANTS PASS CAVEMEN By P E T E L E S M E IS T E R The B rookings B eavers have finally sh ak en th e ir long losing s tre a k .They d id n ’t w in a double h ead er at G ra n ts P a ss this past w eek-end, being nosed out again S a tu rd a y night, 2 to 1, for th e ir 7th stra ig h t loss and 5th by the m arg in of one run, but it w as an 8 to5 victory on Sunday. E ven th en it looked like this m ight be a n o th e r one run d efeat w ith th e C avem en leading 5 to 4 u n til th e top of th e 8th. T h e B eavers exploded in th at inning for 4 big runs, Jim J o h n son, as first up drew a w alk and Bob S elsor singled past th ird base.
