Governor Patterson's Record
O ne of th e m ost s trik in g fe a tu re s of this y e a r’s G u b e rn ato rial
C am p aig n is the w ide cross-section of th e su p p o rt enjoyed by Gov

It w as b ro ught m ore forcibly to a tte n tio n by an ed ito rial in the
G ra n ts P ass Daily C ourier recen tly , com m enting on th e fo rm atio n of
th e first P a tte rso n F o r G overnor Club. 1 he club w as form ed in M ed

F u rth e rm o re , th e m en form ing the club w ere the leaders ot th e
R ep u b lican p a rty in th a t area.
As the C o u rier says. E arl N ew bry is personally popular in his
hom e county, an d has long been a business m an there. T he fact th a t
th e leading m en of th a t com m unity sup p o rt G overnor P a tte rso n
sh o u ld cast no shadow’ on N ow bry’s nam e . . . it sim ply m eans th at
th e y believe th e G overnor is th e m an m ost fitted to r his job.
In his ad m in istratio n , th e G overnor has estab lish ed a re p u ta tio n
fo r a firm , honest, intelligent ad m in istratio n . W ith such a record be
hind him. no conscientious R epublican, in Jack so n C ounty or else
w h ere, could refuse to su p p o rt him. And, th ro u g h o u t th e s ta te , Re
p u b lican s who place a high v alu e upon in te g rity a re solidly behind
P au l P atterso n .
George Rush's M em orial
T h e d e a th of G eorge R ush has tak en a fa m ilia r and well-loved
fig u re aw ay from B rookings. But few will leave a m ore en d u rin g
m on u m en t.
As som eone else said, th e d ea th of G eorge R ush is like lights out
for B rookings. But it is precisely because of G eorge th a t th e lights
of B rookings will not go out
In his y ears here, he built an elec trical system w hich has been
m odel of d ep endability . . . so m uch so th a t the days of th e long
o u ta g e s a re alm ost forgotten.
And, as he built his system , G eorge built the respect and a d m ira
tion of his fellow -citizens. He w as a w ell liked m em ber of his com
m u n ity .
So the lights of B rookings will rem ain, and they will co n tin u e t >
b u rn , as a m em orial to G eorge Rush. B ecause of him . this has been
a b rig h te r tow n . . . in m any ways.
