O urs has kept right on going—because it is unusual in so m any ways. W e’ve m ade a specialty here of doing the hard-to-do thing s What's So Different About The Acacia Laundromat? F irst, it offers a g re a te r v a r i e t y of services th a n any au to m atic laundry’ we know of — services most of w’hich every fam ily needs even if it does all of its own laundering. (Y ou’d be am azed how m uch old soap our alw ays-zero-soft w a te r gets out of m any w ashes last w ashed a t home. Once th e y ’ve seen the fluffy perfection of o u r tum ble-drying, th ey th in k of us often in good drying w e ath er, too. The sun c a n ’t fade an y th in g in o u r dryers. BROOKINGS . . . th e little irksom e, nagging things w hich b o th e r so m any housewives. And m any o th e r heavy w ashables ju s t ca n ’t be line- d rie d —o r dried in a sm all hom e d ry e r—to look as nice as we fluff them in o u r big dryers. 6 M any a busy w om an—looking at o u r p rices and at w hat she pays for hot w ater, soap, w ash er re p airs and w ash er d ep reciatio n —finds h erself w ondering how m uch of th e econom y of hom e w asn- ing and drying com es from figuring h er tim e as w orth very little. So, now and then, she’s likely to do som ething she enjoys m ore th a n w ashing, and leave h e r laundry w ith us. U sually she picks it up th e sam e day, often w ithin a few hours. (B leach has its uses — for stain s, for exam ple, re-w hitening w hites th a t th e m a n u fa c tu re r bleached in th e first place, and as a d isin fectan t, but it is no s u b s titu te for good w ashing.) We use bleach only if so instru cted , and we don’t believe in STR O N G bleach a t all, ever.
