U ntil ju st recently I have been
able to tak e pride in the fact th at
I could rem ain calm in alm ost any-

have gloried in my rep u tatio n for
being able to ignore triv ialities
which would o rdinarily throw

refers to as a "tizzy.”
Of late, though, I fe ar th a t un-

ease th e tension, I will be faced
w ith a form of fru stra tio n which
has caused stro n g er men th an I

phone conversations to which I am
forced to listen since we c a n ’t
afford a p ria te booth in the living
room.
To explain ad eq u ately the or-

describe a typical conversation as

picks it up, and this m um bo-

you—Hi W h a t? — Yeah — Yeah
Yeah — Maybe — W hat ?
W hen? — Y eah? — Y e a h S u r e
6 :3 0 ? — Yeah - Yeah No — NO
O k ay —Y e a h - Bye.”
Now* th at, believe me, is a con
v ersatio n which could drive an y

but soon find m yself stru g g lin g to
co n stru c t the m issing pieces of the
conversational puzzle of which J
