T h e re ’s no doubt th a t the strip of road at th e fork of E asy S tre e t and P ion eer Road should be nam ed ‘‘P io n eer C anyon." Almost all of o u r N ayborhill folks have d ru g b o t t m s (c ar bottom s) th ro u g h larg e holes and m ud for several days. S ev eral cars have been dam aged badly. We have re ports of c a r pans being shoved up into cra n k sh afts, h o l e s punched th ru m u fflers, fenders split, and doors, bum pers and ste e rin g g ears sprung. And th a ts not a ll—o u r dispositions have been sp ru n g too! H arriso n H ale and P ercy H anks sp en t several hours w orking on th e road on th eir own tim e. T hey p u t plan k in g across one of th e bad places and th a t did help some. P io n eer road being th e only w ay in o r out for o u r N ayborhill folks m akes it doubly bad. B u si ness and social ap p o in tm en ts have had to be cancelled and even some school children have had to m iss school on account of th e road being im passable. W e on the hill are thinking seriously of g ettin g a horse and buggy to tra n s p o rt o u r folks th ru th e canyon we could call it. "T he didn t do P io n eer C anyon m uch good by having those cem ent tru c k s d riv in g th ru it. but we are happy to see th a t o u r sleeping neighbors a re g e ttin g th e ir hill fixed up. C het G ragg tells us th a t some kind of anim al dug u n d er his chicken pen fence, caught and killed one of his hens then dru g it down th e p ath a w ays and left it. M uriel G ragg and d au g h te r P a tty Jo, visited Mrs. Helen W eaver a t S easide H ospital Mon day afternoon. H elen expects to be hom e soon w ith h er new son Jim m y. M rs. S ue Jackson was a dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ted H am ness one evening, also Mr. and Mrs. Ross C onow ay w ere visitors of th e H am ness one evening. Doug H am ness keeps busy m a k ing those little law n ornam ents. H e has a nice selection and has been selling q u ite a few. Tlie C huck B ehees had a te le phone in stalled M onday. We have noticed th a t som e folks a re having cem ent r e ta in n g w alls poured around th e ir plots up at th e cem etery. W hen the spring tim e com es th e hill up th e re is b e a u tifu l w ith wild flow ers and shrubs. Of course it live in th e old A irport district.
