gene Bowlin, an d th e ir d au g h ter,
Miss S hirley Bowlin. B oth Gene
and S hirley are a tte n d in g th e U ni­
versity of O regon D en tal college.
They w ere accom panied to P o rt­
land by an o th e r son, P v t. R obert
Bowlin, who has been ta k in g his
basic train in g at F o rt Ord, and
left for B altim o re w here he is a t ­
tending intelligence train in g class­
es Also w hile in P o rtlan d , they
becam e acq u ain ted w ith th e new -
er.t grandchild, seven-pound six-
ounce R obert Alan, who w as born
on F eb ru a ry 1 to Gene and his
wife.
Mr. and Mrs. C lifford F a n g e r
and th ree ch ild ren left last w eek
for M edford a f te r v isiting for four
days at the hom e of Mr. F a n g e r’s
broth er, F ran k lin , and fam ily a t
th e ir hom e up the so u th bank
road. T hey have ju st re tu rn e d
to the U nited S ta te s from Jap a n
w here they have been for th e past
four y ears at the New T ribes Mis­
sion at M izusaw a as m issionaries.
A fter v isiting relativ es for a short
tim e, Mr. F a n g e r w ill trav e l
arou n d the co u n try on a sp ea k ­
ing to u r for th e next six to nine
m onths, a f te r w hich they expect
to re tu rn to Jap a n . W hile here
they spoke at th e B rookings Bible
church and th e B rookings Com ­
m unity church services.
Mr. and Mrs. M. B. H ayes left
recen tly for a m onths vacation
trip which is ta k in g th em first to
th e Bay A rea, w here th ey will

by Dr. and Mrs. F red M eyers ol
O akland. T he group will th en go to
F lorida by w ay of D allas. T exas,
and th en on to C uba for several
days. T h eir d au g h ter, S haron, is

ily d u rin g th e ir absence.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cool a re the
proud p a re n ts of an eight-pound
seven-ounce son, born a t the
B rookings clinic S a tu rd a y m o rn ­
ing. T hey have nam ed th e young
m an M ichael C harles.
Mr. and M rs. H e rb e rt P ay n e
spent th e w eekend in G ra n ts P ass
visiting th e ir d au g h ter, Mrs. Gene
R eiling and fam ily.
Mr. and Mrs. D. G. L ane left the
first of th e w eek for R idgefield.
W ashington, th e ir fo rm er home,
a f te r being here for the p ast five
m onths.

hall betw een 9:00 and 11:00 a m.
