He was s ittin g on the street curb, and lo o kin g very vicious. 4-H Achievement Night Saturday F o u r-H Achievem ent night w ill be held S a tu rd a y evening at 8 o’clock at the school a u d ito riu m , under the sponsorship of the B ro o kin g s-H a rb o r R otary Club. A ccording to C hairm an Leo Lucas, 100 kids and a num ber of leaders w ill be honored d u rin g the evening fo r th e ir past y e a r’s per form ance in Eour-H . Leo added that the very best way of show ing aopreciation both to leaders and the youngsters w ould lx» to be on hand when the program opened S aturday. A m usical program w ill be in cluded in the evening’s e n te rta in ment. F eatured on it w ill be the Brookings Barbershoppers as w ell as the school chorus. “ There was a tim e ” , he growled, when this was the best place you could im agine fo r a goblin o r a w itch. I t ’s enough to d rive a goblin to go to c h u rc h !” “And you know' w ho’s fa u lt it is ? ” , he stormed. “ Those Lions and them L u c k y 7 Boys, th a t’s w’ho. W hat those boys did to us was a frig h t. W hy, a decent gob lin couldn’t raise his head in this tow n last n ig h t w ith o u t g e ttin g it batted o ff by one o f them L u ck y 7 Boys.” He s i g h e d m o u rn fu lly . " I guess” , he m uttered. “ I ’m going to have to leave here. I ’ll have to move to Crescent C ity o r Med fo rd or one o f those towns where they know how' to be re a lly s tin k ing T ro u b le w ith the boys around th is place is. . . th e y ’re too darned responsible.!” He s ta rte d o ff down the hig h way, dragging his lit t le pointed ta il in the dust. I d id n ’t have the heart to te ll him we were glad to see him go. And I fe lt kind of sorry fo r Crescent C ity . B ut I was c e rta in ly th a n k fu l th a t ;t was in B rookings th a t the L u c k y 7 club decided to form . Brookings Friendliness Pays Off M r. and Mrs. John M a rtin from Phoenix. Arizona were perplexed. They had heard the Chet co was a w onderful riv e r to fish and could not find out another th in g about it. But they came anyw ay, and being very lu cky people, they ran in to B row nie B rim m . W ith B ro w n ie ’s help, they m an aged to snag five salmon and six jacks in fo u r days, and have a , w hale of a tim e doing it.
