T he hall was filled w ith friends and relatives of the graduates to w itness the pro program . The stage was decorated w ith azaleas and greenery. Speak e r for the evening was Elton Reed from the county superintendent’s office in Crescent Q ty . Diplomas w ere presented to the graduates by Jam es Hight, clerk of school board. On Tuesday evening graduates w ere guests of Joe Sierka a t SS. Cafe at Castle Rock. Among th e ' others present w ere John Os- tiom , principal; 8th grade teach e r Mrs. Geneva Rooney, and P.T.A. President Mrs. P atsy • Westbrook. Lack of help and bad w eather have held back our com m ittee on picking up item s for our JA M BOREE AUCTION. So we have had to postpone it to an indefin ite later date. We have consider able stuff on hand to sell or auc tion. but not enough to engage a hall and have an auctioneer do his stuff. Mr. Rice is the oldest resi dent of Sm ith River. Open house was held during the afternoon when friends and relatives called to extend birthday greetings. Hostesses w ere his two (laughters, TO Mrs. Blanche Favor and Mrs. Georgia P ark of Albany, Ore., the youngest d aughter of Mr. Rice. 1'he honor guest received many cards and gifts from his many friends. A large group of friends from PROPRIETORS OF HI-WAY MARKET Sm ith River attended the com m encem ent exercises of the 76 g raduates of Del N orte High School on Friday evening, held in J he pavilion at Del N orte county fair grounds. Guest speaker for the evening was Dr. Cornelius Siemens, president of Hum bolt S ta te college. Special aw ards and Serving Steaks, Chops, Roasts and Seafood diplom as were presenetd by Charles Thunen, principal of the school. This was the largest on Dinners or a la Carte class to graduate from the high school. Mrs. Carl Thom as received word telling of the serious illness of her brother, M arion M artin, OPEN AROUND TH E CLOCK who is confined in the hospital at S eattle, W ash., under tre a t ment for a heart ailm ent.
