Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ackley left
Sunday for Reno where Ackley
transacted business. On return
ing they found the road around
Lake Tahoe closed by snow and
VMnds of 70 to 80 miles per hour.
They were forced to go north to
the Feather River country to get
home. They returned Wednesday
night.

are holding a rummage sale

Tommy Martin, teacher at the
local school was called to Boise,
Idaho on Wednesday by the cri
tical illness of a sister.
Mrs. William A. Foltz sends a
card with good wishes for all
the old friends of the family here
in Brookings. The home owned
by them near the I.O.O.F. hall
burned last fall. They and their
sons and daughter will be well
remembered by many for their
fine community spirit and work
for betterment in local projects.

of the 42nd annual meeting of
the lumber trade group in Port
land Thursday.
N. B. Giustina, active young
Eugene lumber leader, was elect
ed vice president for Oregon. Two
Portland men Were re-elected to
top xecutive positions, H. V.
Simpson as xecutive vice presi
dent, and Harris E. Smith as
secretary.
