LOCAL NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ackley left Sunday for Reno where Ackley transacted business. On return­ ing they found the road around Lake Tahoe closed by snow and VMnds of 70 to 80 miles per hour. They were forced to go north to the Feather River country to get home. They returned Wednesday night. The parishoners of St. Joseph’s catholic church, Crescent City are holding a rummage sale Thursday through Saturday of , this week. Tommy Martin, teacher at the local school was called to Boise, Idaho on Wednesday by the cri­ tical illness of a sister. Mrs. William A. Foltz sends a card with good wishes for all the old friends of the family here in Brookings. The home owned by them near the I.O.O.F. hall burned last fall. Lumbermen Elected To West Coast Association Twenty Oregon lumbermen were elected to the board of di­ rectors of the West Coast Lum- Arm en’s Association at the close of the 42nd annual meeting of the lumber trade group in Port­ land Thursday. N. B. Giustina, active young Eugene lumber leader, was elect­ ed vice president for Oregon. Two Portland men Were re-elected to top xecutive positions, H. V. Simpson as xecutive vice presi­ dent, and Harris E. Smith as secretary. Named to the board of direc­ tors from Oregon were: J. W. Wirrick, Dee; Harold A. Miller, Forest Grove; M. L. Hallmark, Roseburg; E. W. Pease and A. A. Lausman.
