Carnival Will Add To Library Building Fund Just About Folks Taete It looks like a big night at the V.F.W. hall this Saturday. The following will give some idea of the activities planned: The P.-T.A. will have a home made candy booth, the Rebekahs will have a pie and cake sale; Garden club, plants and bulbs for sale; the V.F.W. and the Auv- iliary will run a bingo game; Ro- “ ii.\ and Chamber of Commerce will each have a dart game; H ar bor Community Club, a fish pond: tlie S attelite C lub will serve sand wiches and coffee; Lions Club, a " heel, and the W ranglers will .have a booth, although we have not yet learned just what type it will be. A few organizations have not yet been heard from and some have sent cash donations because they could not handle a booth. There also will be some dutch auctions and other a ttra c tions. All proceeds are to go to the Library building fund, so come, hiing your friends, have a good tim e and at the same time help a good cause. ♦ Advertising in the Brookings- H arbor Pilot bings results. The sale is held annually for a month-long period im m ediately preceding E a ste r Sunday, ami the dates this year will be March 5 to April 5. BROWN MORTUARY Brookings I larbor Pilot 5 THURSDAY, FEB 26, 1953 The task of pieparing the E a ste r Seals for m ailing to resi dents ot C urry county has been under way for several weeks. The first seals will go into the mails on March 5, and Mrs. Mendenhall has urged the county’s residents to respond as early as possible. “ I he sale of E aster Seals pro vides the principal m eans of sup port for the Oregon Society foi Crippled Children and A dults.” Mrs. Verna M endenhall said. “And hundreds of physically handicap ped Oregonians are counting on your purchase to help them .” Mrs. Mendenhall explained that the Oregon Society for Crippled Children and Adults otters its services and facilities to those persons w;ho cannot qualify for assistance from any other agency, eith er public or private. The society operates the Chil dren ’s Hospital School at Eugene, where crippled children from over 20 counties receive special education and training. It also operates the C raft Shop of the Handicap|>cd in Portland, where articles made by handicap[>cd per sons are sold at retail. Assistance is also provided for individual* needing medical surgi- care and for those requiring speech treatm ent. Dunsm uir, Calif., have purchased the five-acre plot directly across from the north end of H arris P ark and will soon come to Brookings to m ake their home. The acreage was form erly owned b\ Josie De M artin. The sale was made through the S outhern C urry Realty. The Myhres were owners of a ladies’ ready-to-w ear shop in D unsm uir until recently.
