The polio epidemic throughout the nation has been the g reatest of all tim e and our county is helping three of the victim s of this dreaded disease. No one knows where it will strik e next. Do your share to help fight its crippling effect. Harvey Kim m erm an, brother of Bob. arrived Monday for a short visit w ith the Zimmerman family. He recently returned from a to u r w ith the arm ed forc es at Okinawa. He m akes his home with his m other in Kelso, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Haga left Tuesday m orning for Blythe, Calif., and on into Arizona. Mr. and Mrs. George Guerin left S atu rd ay for M ontague for a Visit w ith th eir daughter Mrs. Bill K rutzer, and family. Sunday they were in Mt. Shasta visiting Mr. and Mrs. Wes Hogan, and Monday they spent with a niece in Medford, retu rn in g home T ues day. Mrs. A. W. B ritton went to M yrtle Point T hursday to bring her aged father home w ith her for an indefinite stay. R epresentative Roti McKenzie spent the weekend at home, away from his strenuous duties at the legislature. W orth Shoop’s brother arrived Friday night from Salem for a visit with the Shoop family. Floras Willow club is again sponsoring the annual Talent Hour. The date has been set for Feb. 13. Can you dance, play a musical instrum ent or give a reading? There is a place for you. Join the fun. T here will be cash prizes given in the three classes, which are as follows: The high school and adult group, w ith first prize $10, second $3 and third $3. The fourth through eighth grades w ith prizes of $7. $5 and $3, and the pre-school group w ith prizes of $5, $2 and $1. Groups or individuals w el come. The place: Langlois Hi School gym. The tim e: 8 o’clock. Lowell K ruetzer and the man working for him w ere caught by the swift current when crossing high w ater to feed stock and their boat capsized Friday evening. They had to swim for high ground and spent the night in the feed ing shed surrounded by high w a ter. S aturday m orning the alarm went out th at they had not re turned Friday night and men in boats searched the area, finding them at the shed none the worse for their experience. The W ranglers reported that their organization was willing to tak e over the show for this year, w ith possibilities of another log ging show. It was reported th a t Ja p Yoak um hail offered to be responsible for obtaining a sheep dog show. The stockm en’s association re ported th at they w ere going to put on an o th er barbeque this year and had their com m ittees all set up and lambs donated. The s ta te engineer asked for office space on the fair grounds for a five-year period. The space was granted providing they build their own office. The queen com m ittee reported on plans for a more impressive coronation anil plans w ere acceptable to the fair board. The board is issuing a call for all groups, organizations, or individuals to prepare to place on “ Fiber E ” ('over.
