T h e conclusion of this m eetin g will d e te rm in e to a g re at e x te n t th e action of th e C h am b er of C om m erce in its effo rts to assist. At th e tim e this p a p e r w ent to press no re p o rt of th e m eetin g w as available. Library Site To Be Deeded To City T he su rp lu s p ro p e rtie s division of the F ed eral S e c u ritie s Agency is now read y to p u t th e deed to th e lots for th e C hetco C om m u n ity L ib rary in escrow , and su g gested th a t, since th e com m u n ity is now in co rp o rated, th e land be conveyed d ire c tly to th e city in stead of th e L ib rary A ssociation; th ereb y relieving th e association of th e necessity of filing a ta x exem ption c e rtific a te ; since, as city p ro p e rty it w ould a u to m a ti cally be ta x ex em pt. In view of th is suggestion, th e L ib rary B oard co n ferre d w ith th e city council and city a tto rn e y , and la te r called a special m eetin g of th e association m em bership, a t w hich tim e a reso lu tio n w as passed to th e effect th a t th e city council m ak e ap p licatio n fo r this p ro p erty . H ow ever, th e L ib ra ry A sso cia tion is still responsible for th e collection of funds and th e con stru c tio n of th e building. A ction w as ta k e n by th e city council and its ap p lication is now in th e haiTas of th e federal se c u rtie s agency in S an F rancisco. Lions Club Plans For Carter Night T h e B rooking s -H a rb o r Lions C lub will hold its c h a rte r night p ro g ram S atu rd ay , Feb. 21. at th e C hetco Inn. M any d ig n a ta rie s a re ex p ected to atte n d . T h e club is m ak in g p re p a ra tio n s for an e x pected a tte n d a n c e of at least 200. Lions clubs in g en eral, concen tr a te w ork w ith th e ir aid to th e blind. T hey d o n ate tim e and m oney to the p u rch ase of glasses, tre a tm e n t am i seeing-eye dogs for th e blind. T hey u sually try to confine th eir aid to local co m m u n ity pro jects th a t needs to be u n d e rta k e n . They u su ally get th e job done in fine o rd er, too. T he B ro o k in g s-H arb o r club now has a m em bership of 20 m em b ers and it is expeced to grow still h ig h er by c h a rte r night.
