T asting savory tidbits that burden
train, it m ay have been necessary
to provide for a four m onths’
campaign. Today, however, w ith
the daily press, the radio, and air
travel at our command, any c a n
didate, no m a tte r how much he
knows or believes, can tell it all
to the en tire nation in a couple
of weeks or in four at the most.
T h at was the trouble w ith this
cam paign. Both parties ran out
of good ideas in the first few
weeks and then in order to con
tinue m aking the headlines, they
had to s ta rt scraping the bottom
of the barrel. Ass a result they
cam e up w ith muck and we, the
voters, becam e the targets. I’m
m ighty glad i t ’s all over.
