While gone she m ade a trip to northern W ash ington. 1 Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Shoop left i F riday evening for Salem. They w ere called there by the serious ' illness of Mrs. Shoop’s mother. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Boice left for eastern Oregon Friday on a hunting trip. P a tty Boice is stay ing with their two girls while they are gone. I Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clarke and B arbara Brinkm an went on to Eugene Thursday for a day w ith Charles Jr. and daughter Vera. D ra g line d re d g e fro m the B a n don rock quarry recently com pleted several drainage ditches and irrigation projects in the Langlois area. They include drain age ditches for Art Strain. Newt Tìnga and Bud Brown and an irrigation reservoir for Clarke Sloum and Dick Barklon. Lily bulb shiping for the Lang lois area is alxmt completed for this season. Mrs. Cora Gusten, 7th grade I teacher was in Bandon Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce McDonald m ade a business trip to Reedsport S a t Ut day. Mis. Rita Lewis of Cloverdale, California was in Langlois to a t tend the funeral of her brother. She s|M«nt a short time w ith re latives before returning home. Farm ers are anxiously await ing the fall rams. Wells are going dry and gardens drying up. It has been a long time since the last sp: ing rain. Gene M asters of Salem spent the weekend as a guest of his sister, Mrs. Glen Kerber. Lorane Tim m erm an, Flossie Thocrhaven, Jean S train and Marvin Brooks attended the workshop for coats and suits held at the Legion Hall in Port Orford Tuesday. Styles and m aterials were discussed by Miss Lucy Lane, clothing expert from O.S.C. This m eeting was preparatory to the workshops in the w inter when the ladies will m ake either a suit or a coat under the extension leadership. Vern Chesley of Coos Bay, Thursday visited relatives in Langlois. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Collins a t tended the regular m eeting of Chetco grange Friday evening in the interests of better grange work. Jam es Schreiber Jr. arrived in D enm ark this week from an arm y base in Rantail, 111. He wil! m eet his new’ born son for the first time. A fter his leave is over, he and Mrs. Schreiber will spend the w inter at the base at Las Vegas, Nev. Mr. and Mrs. R. K. Irwan are driving a new’ Buick car ami were shopping in Bandon Saturday. Many of the local nimrods have left for eastern Oregon. Among those who are hunting are : Mr. and Mrs. Bill W oodruff, who have gone to the John Day country; L. S. P orter, who went to the same area, Cotton Robbins ami Bill Stew ard and several other Langlois men are hunting near Burns. Mr. anl Mrs. Fuller have joined Mr. and Mrs. Henry Adolphsen in the Steen M ountains ford, co-hostesses. A num ber un able to atten d sent gifts. for their hunt. Mrs. Robert Thetford e n te r tained with a stork shower in honor of Mrs. Fred H argand F ri day evening. A very pleasant evening was spent and many de lightful gifts received by Mrs. Hargand.
