This may have been good clean fun on a hot day, hut today's hom em akers probably prefer to use a m odern e f ficient w ashing m achine and the new d eterg en t th a t’s blue. The color of things has changed g reatly since Colonial days. Wooden wash tubs of our fo refath e rs have )>een replaced by m echanical w ash ers — now a fixture in m ost A m er ican homes — and the more recent introduction of highly efficient de terg e n ts has added new cheer to blue Monday. M ilestones in modern soapm ak- •ng were the discovery of white Weather Report water. The la te st developm ent in the w ashday suds field is a blue, g ra n ulated product called Cheer. The ex clusive form ula of the product con tains a scientific w hitening agent which results in the w hitest, b rig h t est w ashes possible, it was pointed out by the m akers. The new blue product is not a bluing, but is so effective th a t bluing is not needed unless especially desired, nor is bleach necessary except in the case of stubborn stain s. The new prod uct is also well suited for diai»- dried dishw ashing. 63 53 \u g u st 9 August 10 54 61 August 11 60 53 August 12 62 52 August 13 67 52 August 14 68 53 August 15 69 54 August 16 69 52 August 17 69 51 August 18 75 48 August 19 74 48 August 20 67 48 August 21 65 48 August 22 66 54 August 23 69 53 August 24 62 51 August 25 7 1 51 August 26 76 49 65 August 27 49 August 28 58 50 August 29 62 50 August 30 ... .58 50 August 31 ..... 66 46 1 Sept. 1 ..... 66 49 Sept. 2 . ... 74 50 Sept 3 68 54 Sept. 4 66 50 Sept. 5 ...... 52 .02 88 Sept. 6 .............. 62 50 Sept 7 67 47 1 Sept. 8 ...... 6G 47 Sept. 9 ..... 48 80 Sept 10 69 46 Sept 11 47 TO Sept. 12 .... 76 50 Sept. 13 98 52 Sept 14 82 54 Sept. 15 78 54 Sept 16 69 44 Sept. 17 ........ 70 46 Sept 18 48 ........ 54 Sept 19 60 48 Sept 20 37 50 .01 Sept. 21 57 51 It is» interesting to note the hottest da> of the season on Septem ber 13 with a m aximum ! tem p eratu re reading of 97 5 made at 10 pm .
