Chu k» n fam ¿v, P-T A Will Practice LEO LUCAS GETS 300 POUND BEAR Friends never found out if Leo Lucas was hunting that .300 pound bear he shot on his ranch on the Ridge, up the Chetco river, or w hether the bear was hunting for him He brought it into town Thursday. A fter two shots from a 30-30 it tried to shake hands with him, so just to be safe Leo shot it again. He judged the big black animal was between three and four years old. Mr. Lucas is generously sh a r ing bear steak with his friends this w«*k. It was beginning to fatten for w inter hibernation and should be very tasty. CAR WRECKED SOUTH OF HARBOR It was reported th at a broken apindle bolt was the cauae of a completely wrecked Plymouth car and injury to Orval Lock on Mon day afternoon, near the H astings Bulb Farm, south of Harbor. Lock was hospitalized at Seaside Hos pital, Crescent City, with a badly crushed shoulder. Oren Sackrell, other occupant of the car, was dism issed by Dr. Ron- niger as having no critical injuries apparent a t the time. Grayshels Conduct Curry Co. Booth At State Fair The 1952 State F air held nt Salem, Oregon from August 90th to Septem ber Hth had the la rg e st attendance in the history of an- i mini State Fairs. There were 15 county exhibits at the F air this y» a r out of the 36 counties in the Stute. The Gprry County booth was supervised by Mr. and Mrs. Charles G rayshel and thud on d is play the natural resources of the county. Also featured in the booth w ere'C roft E aster Lilies, King Al fred Daffodil bulbs, (plywood, wool, myrtlewood, Langlois Obeese, m in erals, finisher! myrtlewood pieces and rnbrum lilies. L iterature from all p arts of the county was on dis play a t the table to give aw ay to anyone i n t «*<1, and a large number of persons asked about the m inerals in the county, as well as w h it to do while in our county. Many inquiries were received from fishermen and hunters as to the best time to come for th<* fall fish ing in the stream s along the coast of Currycounty. ThevariousState parks in our area created a lot of in terest as well as places for fam ilies to stay overnight. We would like to have a large display of m inerals for the Pacific U nterna- tional Livestock Show to be held in Portland from October 4th to 11th inclusive. We feel th a t m inerals are going to play an im portant p art in the future of C urry county and we should advertise these natural resources to the rest of the State. At the Pacific International Livestock Show there will be peo ple from the entire Pacific N orth west, as well as m id -w e ste rn States.
