A ssuring local people, too, w as Colonel Lipscom b, d istric t e n g in eer, who in his so u th ern draw l, said, “You gentlem en cehtainly hav e shown me th at youah need is heah, and I j>ehsonally am giving it m y deepest stu d y in the com ing m o n th s.” O ne m ust say of E llsw orth th a t he rem em bers his d istrict and the people who have sent him to W ashington. In a hostile congress, he c e rta in ly has had little o p p o rtu n ity to really show w hat he is cap ab le of doing. E llsw o rth ’s honesty, his sincereness, his ea rn est efforts w ill not lx* fo rg o tten by his co n stitu en ts, as long as th e Pilot is able to record them , 'ih e Pilot, on occasions, has not agreed w ith som e of his ideas, but ce rtain ly th e Pilot adm ires any m an who will ta k e a stan d , and who will defend th a t stan d in face of defeat.
