Thursday, July 24, 1952 Adventists Holding ' * Aifnual Meeting At Gladstone Brookings Seventh-Day Adven tists are joining those from 104 others cities and town in W est ern Oregon in their annual g ath ering at conference camp grounds at Gladston park, 10 miles soutA of P ortland, W illard Graham and F rank Tompkinson, local church officers and A rth u r Robison, home m issionary leader, will take part in the lay preachers’ institu te which was held the first three days of the ten-day encam pm ent, from July 17 to 27. Reports say that 15,000 will attend during the two week-ends. Half of these will be housed on the grounds while the rem ainder will com m ute from P ortland and other nearby cities Mason Metcalf, pastor of the Brookings church, has been on the grounds for ten days helping 64 b io th er m inisters set up the camp. By T hursday a m ushroom town of 1750 lodges, cabins and tents, with its own w ater system, cafeteria, groceteria, police and fire staffs’ w ere set up on the 70-acre tra c t which the Oregon conference p u r chased in 1932 for these annual gatherings. George E. Vandeman of t h e General Conference M inisterial as sociation will in stru ct the lay m in isters. Besides the three days of training, there will be reports from prom inent laymen who have en gaged in public evangelistic serv ices, radio work and other mis sionary activities during the past year. Platform interview s with some of the persons won hy lay efforts will be featured. 0 Rider W. H. B. H assett, for the sum m er. Mrs. H assett will be in Brookings later, coming from Se a ttle in a short time. Mrs. F.
