Sm ith, m eteorologist in charge of the w estern region of the United States, w ith headquar ters at Salt Lake City, was a brief visitor in Brookings T ues day m orning en route south to Los Angeles and o th er California points. He pointed out the im portance of this station in the airw ay w eath er m ap every six hours, and esti m ated th at Brookings observa tions w ere am ong the most im p ortant, except, perhaps, those from storm centers in Alaska or McKenzie River regions.
