Section 19. S to rin g V ehicles oi
S treets. It shall be unlaw ful fo.

to sto re any m otor vehicle or any
o th e r kind of vehicle upon any
stree t in the City of B rookings
w ithout first having obtained a
w ritte n perm it th e re fo r from the
Com m issioner of Police; provided,
however, th a t m echanics m ay re
p air any such vehicle w hich has
broken down o r becom e disabled
upon any stre e t if th e sam e is
tem porarily upon such stree t for
that purpose and is not o b s tru c t
ing traffic.
Section 20. D ru n k en D riving.
(a) It shall be unlaw ful for
any h ab itu al u s e r of narcotic
drugs o r any person under the in
fluence of in to x icatin g liquor or
narcotic d rugs to drive any ve
hicle upon any stre e t w ithin the
City of Brookings.
(b) Every person who is con
victed of a violation of this sec
tion shall be punished by a fine
of not less th an One H undred
D ollars (8100) nor m ore th an
Five H undred D ollars ($500t or
by im prisonm ent in the C ity jail
for a period not longer th a n six
m onths or by both such fine and
im prisonm ent.
(c) T he C hief of Police and
any o th e r police officer of tne
B ureau of Police, upon arre stin g
any person for d ru n k en driving,
shall seize and im pound th e ve
hicle which th e a rre s te d person
w as driving a t th e tim e of such
a rre st, and th e C hief of Police
shall keep such vehicle im pound
ed until the sam e has been o rd e r
ed released by o rd er of th e M u
nicipal Judge; and if the a rre ste d
person be found guilty of dru n k en
driving, he shall, in addition to
any o th e r punishm ent adm inis
tere d by the M unicipal C ourt .pur
su an t to this section, pay all costs
ot tow ing and sto rag e of said ve
hicle; provided, how ever, th a t
the Chief of Police shall not cause
said vehicle to be sto red outside
the lim its of th e C ity oi B rook
ings.
