Thursday, March 15, 1951 BROOKINGS-H ARBOR PILOT, BROOKINGS, OREGON Chetco Library Is Opened To Public The re-opening of the Chetco Community Library last I riday afternoon was attended by many local people, and about $25 was realized from the silver tea, to wards the buiding fund of a new home. A local gentleman, who re mains anonymous also gave a generous donation to buy new books. The library is situated in a room at the VFW hall, which has been made available to the li brary board, and will be open on Tuesday and Friday after noons, Mrs. Jessie Judkins being in charge on Tuesday and Mrs. Dolly Brainard on Fridays. Nearly 200 books were taken out Friday afternoon. The library board wishes to especially thank the VFW for donating the use of the hall for the silver tea, and the auxiliary members who helped during the afternoon : Mrs. Harriett Baker, ¡ Mrs. Edith Hynes, and Mrs. G. . The tea was in charge of Mrs. Grace Edwardson and Mrs. Emma Waldien of the Har- hor Community Club, sponsors of the labrary. Penney Co. Will Give 4-H Award manager of the J. C. Pennex & Co. store at Coquille, that they will award a 4-H summer school scholarship to some boy or girl in Curry county this year. This scholarship will be awaird ed to some Curry Counts mcm- ber by the scholarship commit-1 tee on the basis of their lead ership and program in 4-H club activities according t o Clifford Jenkins, county agent. That SNOOPY , Home-maker...... Baptismal Set For Sunday Evening On Palm Sunday evening, a baptismal service will be held at the Baptist Community church for the many new converts who have recently joined the» church. This will be a prelude to the Easter Service to follow. On Good Friday, March 23, there will be a Good Friday serv ice at the church at 8:00 p. m. Theme for this service will be : “The Sev <n 9 a s t Words of Christ.” On Easter Sunday morning the Sunday school will present a special Easter program and reg ular Easter service will be held at 11 a. m. At 8 p. m. the choir will present an Easter Cantata at the church. Those with no church home in the area are invited to attend any or all these services. Mrs. Elizabeth Ruebush has been enjoying a visit with her 13-year-old son, Harold, who is en route from Myrtle Creek to Lima, Ohio, where he will at tend school. Mrs. Ruebush is em ployed as office manager for Hen ry Kerr. Miss Maxine Duffy and Mrs. Bessie Randall returned recently from an interesting trip to San Francisco, Sacramento and Reno.
