This is gratifying because it means 1951 should be another year of prog ress. Noted, too, is a new dis- play of harmony among mem bers of that group. Threat of war may hamper a lot of plans but this area has a place in the economy of the nation, so cannot sit idly by and not strive lor greater things. I really predict many things for this coming year. Over the week-end, radios re- vealed the power outage at Eu- reka, and the flood stage of a few rivers in that vinicity. It makes most of us glad to be in this area, for the brunt of the big storm which lashed the west coast, spared this area much of its fury. We had wind, and rain but not in proportions which did damage as elsewhere. Taft, to the north of us, had plenty of wind damage to the new high school under construc tion, which will cause much de lay in its completion. Perhaps it is fortunate for the local people they could not get started. At any rate, they were not alone in being delayed. University of Washington, the school which most of the hoop experts predicted to be the di- sion winner in the northwest, is having more than just tough sledding in its 1951 season. The Huskies, on their home floor, put the Oregon Ducks down, but the OSC Beavers split with them on a road trip more than week ago. Last Friday and Saturday the Huskies got in the WSC Cougars lair and came out second best in two games.
