BROOKINGS-HARBOR PILOT. BROOKINGS, OREGON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 5, 1950 Charlotte Royer Weds At Culver City, California In a letter from Mr. and Mrs. Harold Royer, former residents of the Gilmore Ranch, up the Wjnchuck, now of Culver City, the Pilot was favored with the following account of the wed ding of their daughter: b At a formal evening ceremony in St. Augustine-B y-T h e-S e a Episcopal church, Saturday, Miss Charlotte Lucille Royer became the bride of Donald A. Thomas. She is the daughter of Mr .and Airs. Harold Royer, 4153 Jas mine Ave., Culver City, and Mr. Thomas is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Thomas, 4057 Rosa bel le Ave., Venice. The lovely old church was dec- • orated with baskets of w h i t e ' gladioli. chrysanthemums and larkspur with trailing variegated ivy. Bouquets of white flowers filled the altar vases and sprays of asparagus fern were fastened in wall brackets along the nave of the church. The bride was given in mar- riage by her father with Rev. jP’allace N. Pierson officiating, ft he wore a princess style gown of white satin with sweetheart neckline and stand-up c ollar, duchess sleeves and full flaring skirt with chapel train. Seed pearl embroidery outlin- cd the neck and collar of her gown and was repeated around the edgt' of her Juliet cap of chan- tilly lace. Her fingertip length veil was of nylon net and she carried a shower of white glad ioli and stephanotis centered with a detachable corsage of white orchids. Miss Peggy Cornwall was maid of honor in a frock of pale green organdy over taffeta with wide taffeta sash and bow. It was fash ioned with high round neckline, cap sleeves and circular skirt. She wore a heart-shaped halo of pink antherium and carried a heart-shaped bouquet of the same flowers backed with green satin edged with matching net. The bridesmaids wore yellow organdy over taffeta with high neckline, cap sleeves and full- gathered skirts with wide sash es and bows. They wore ban deaux of yellow roses and car ried Italian baskets in pale lav ender w i t h bouquets of long stemmed yellow roses. Miss Byr- na Schultz, Beverly Shonkwiler and Joan Nichols were brides maids. Misses Deborah Trempe and Janice Thomas, nieces of bride groom, were flower girls in Kat? Greenway frocks of pale green organdy over taffeta with match ing taffeta gloves and sweetheart bonnets of organdy. They car ried tiny yellow baskets outlined with yellow rosebuds and filled with yellow rose petals. Clarence Thomas w as best man for his brother and another brother, William Thomas, ush ered with Messrs Gerald Bur- right and William Cox. More than 250 guests were re- ceived later at the home of the bride’s parents, where the* bride’s mother appeared in an afternoon gown of old rose crepe with navy blue accessories and corsage of pale orchids. The bridegroom’s mother wore black crepe with sequin trim and deep purple or chid. Floral decorations for t.e re ception carried out the white white flowers mixed with varie gated ivy theme used in the church. A bank of flowers backed the buffet table which was cen tered with a five-tiered wedding cake. The bride’s aunt, Miss Vera Roper, presided ovevr the punch bowl. The couple left by automobile for a honeymoon at Carmel. The bride was in a dressmaker su*t of navy blue wool gabardine, with namy trimmed white hat and navy accessories. She wore the orchids from her wedding bouquet. Both young people were grad uated from Venice High School. While at Venice the bride was a Junior Delphian, Letter Girl, G. A. A., Venetian Lady, Chatelaine. Girl of the Semester and speak- er for her graduating class, She later attended Los Angeles College. Mr. Thomas is in the carpentry business w i t h brother. The will be at home at 3991 Marcasel Ave., Mar Vista, following the honeymoon. The bride once attended the Harbor school while living on the Gilmore ranch, up the Win chuck river. Special (vent!
