On Jan. 15. 19500, MacArthur
notified Washington that the in-
vasion would come in the month
of June.
On Ma i ch 10. 1950. a report
was sent to Washington f rom
Tokyo that the North Koreans
had increased their strength to
13 divisions from six.
In addition to the timetable
on the invasion, the high com
mand was notified in August. ’49
that two divisions of Korean in
fantry had served with the Chi
nese Communist army and had
been sent to North Korea from
Manchuria. In December, three
more division arrived from Man-
churria.
These veteran troops
were distributed in various de
tachments of the 13 divisions, os
tensibly to train regular mem
bers in the North Korean army
for the coming war.

the death of Charles Cooper,
w ho left here about seven years
ago, Death was at Portland. He
was formerly associated
with
the Azalea Garage. Surviving are
his widow and two daughters,
Eizabeth and Charlene.
The All-Year Events Associa
tion will hold its annual meeting
Sept. 20 at the high school at
8 p. m. All members and inter
ested persons are urged to at
tend as this meeting is called for
election of officers. Gordon Goetz
served as president the past year.
The association sponsors all the
