John Mumbower, current pastor of the Christian church at Ukiah. Calif., was asked to give the sermon, Sunday evening at the Baptist Community church, and immediately afterward was asked by the congregation to be come minister of the church. “Jack,” as he would like to have people call him, became a minister after having been a business man for a number of years. He is a dynamic speaker, a community leader, and mem- bers of the congregation felt he was need in the field here. He told the committee that he would try to be on the field in 30 days, if possible. Next Sunday Rev. Floyd Butler will occupy the pulpit, after which a supply minister may be called upon. । BROOKINGS, Growers / F” ■ I • Root a Said 'Extraordinary The float entered in the Lily B’nssom Time parade', here on July 3, was claimed by hundreds of visitors, to be the most out standing they had ever seen, and these visitors said they had seen the Pasadena parade, and others of like size and kind. Designed by Mrs. Fay Hardcs- ty, and carried out by her hus- band and a corp of ' olunteer workers, this float not only had color and beautiy but it had a decided profesisonal touch rarely efer seen. The example set by t he Pa- cific Bulb Growers should be a mark for future floats in the parades to come.
