Port Orford News By Dorothy Asdel Mr. and Mrs. Peter Dobbema motored to Oregon from their Some in Muskegon Heights, Mich., ‘nd are spending a well-deserved vacation with their son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Dob bema. William Robinson, whose wife died recently, was the victim of a most unfortunate accident last v eek. While standing on the sidewalk in front of Katie's Kafe, watching a lineman at work on an electric light pole, Bob Thom as backed his milk delivery truck up to the sidewalk to deliver the milk to the restaurant. Mr. Rob inson was hit by the truck with sufficient force to throw him to the sidewalk. He was taken to Kaiser Hospital, North Bend, and it is believed that his right hip bone was broken, but X-rays re veal only a crack. Supt. of Schools, Joseph Kam- pa, w ho is attending summer school at Eugene, spent the week end with his family here. Jimmy and Phyllis Woodward and sons, spent a most enjoyable vacation with Phyllis’ brother-in- ^■>w and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Krieger, at Bull Creek, Calif. Much time was spent in deep- sea fishing and if reports are to be taken for correct the cannery worked overtime when the fam ily returned with their catch. Coastal Gourmets welcome the news that Frances Burris is the proprietor again of Humbug Mt. restaurant. Last March, ill-health forced Harold Burris, Frances’ husband, to relinquish manage ment of this popular eating place. It was leased to Mr. and Mrs. Ray McDuffy. The McDufTy’s found it impossible to continue and last week Frances was in duced to return. She is assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Cunning ham. Mrs. Ralph Angell returned Friday to her home on Elk Riv er after spending a month with her son, John, at Neskowin, whose family is summering in the east, and with her son, Ralph Jr. at Portland. Mrs. Angell was ac-j companied home by her grand son. Chris Angell, who plans to spend the summer in Port Orford. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Anderson1 and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Axeter of Vancouver, B. C., spent Thurs day evening with Mr. and Mrs. oDuglas Johnson, on their re turn trip from California. Mr. and Mrs. Nick Marsh of this place, Mr. and Mrs. Georg > Sutton of Gold Beach and Mr. and Mrs. George Fromm of Co quille took a ttaree-day trip last week-end to Bend and other cen tral Oregon parts. Their travels covered over 900 miles. Port Orford has now complet ed the laying of all water mains according to Eugene White, wa ter superintendent. The work in cluded relaying some of the wa ter mains to the reservoir. Mrs. J. A. Abston who teaches tmid and fourth grades in the local schools, is atending Univer sity of Washington at Seattle for eight weeks this summer. Mrs. Illene Downey and Mrs. Betty Lou Heavey, of Seattle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Abston, are spending a month with Mrs. Abston here. They re turned with Mr. Abston from Se attle when he took his wife up to enter the university. Mrs. Max Abston and son of Port Orford ¿Mo went with her husband’s parents to visit her own family whose home is in Seattle. They BROOKINGS-HARBOR PILOT, BROOKINGS. OREGON also returned with Mr. Abston. Mrs. Delores Mayes and two Mrs. Clyde Williamson, Mrs. children drove to Portland last Leonard Munson and Mrs. Blaine week with Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Marsh drove to Portland last Corbin.
