who are here on a short vaca­
tion. The Haines resided here
both before and after the war
and are still having business in-
terests in the area.
To see their new granddaugh­
ter, Bry n, Mayor and Mrs. Doug-
las Johnson drove to Portland to
visit their son-in-law and daugh­
ter, parents of the ittle girl,
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew McCor-
nack. Bryn was born May 6.
Mrs. McCornack will be remem-

sons brought Pat and the baby
back for a visit, which was an
event for the 8-day-old Bryn.

Students of Ophir high ob­
served their annual sneak day
on May 10. Points of interest
visited were Brookings. Crescent
City, Trees of Mystery. Some of
them went as far as Eureka. On
the way home part of the crew
stopped at the new skating rink
at Brookings.
Ophir girls defeated the Port
Orford girls last Thursday m a
game of softball. 19 to 13.
Frank Moore has purchased a
new Fairbanks-Morse motor for'
irrrigation purposes.
