THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER li, 1949 LOCAL NEWS People are reminded that a new school bus law is in effect An Oregon. All vehicles must come *o a stop when a school bus is loading or unloaing students. This law will be rigidly enforced, it has been told. Dates for 1949 Oregon Coast Association convention have been set for November 6, 7 and 8 at Crescent City, Calif. Registration will commence at 3 p. m. Sunday afternoon, Nov. 6, and the pro gram of the convention has been loaded with interesting speakers, business sessions and fun festt, Verne Tinnerstet, Tillamook, the manager, told the Pilot. A big luncheon will conclude the affair, Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kerr and daughter and Miss Poore returned late last week from an extended trip to Alaska. Henry told the Pilot that it was a trip well worth taking, as the group enjoyed it immensely. C. O. Leonard has announced that he has completed a new ad dition to his real estate office at the east end of town, for use as inner office, with space reserved for handling insurance of all W kinds soon. Mr. Leonard said he expected to devote considerable time to this phase of his business. Several new subscriptions have been added to the Pilot list in Gold Beach the past week. BROOKINGS-HARBOR PILOT, BROOKINGS, OREGON Sunday will see nearly all the Brookings students leaving for colleges to register for the coming year of school. Francis Blythe, owner of the Brookings Personalized Lundry, arrived home Monday after sev eral days spent at Seaside Hos pital with a severe attack of ar thritis. He is still unable to do any work. Mrs. Irene Boyd, county treas urer, left Sunday for San Fran cisco for medical checkup. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Aho flew up from Crescent City Sunday to, visit Col. and Mrs. Russell.
