Smith River Loeals Mrs. Minnie Bolick, who spent several months with her son and daughter-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Vance Bolick, left for Portland, where she will board the train for her home at Indepndence, Kansas. John Prock, pioneer resident of Smith River, was taken to the Seaside hospital by Supervisor i Haight, where Prock is under treatment for heart ailment. SMITH RIVER—Memorial ser- vices were held Monday by the ! local American Legion post. The veterans, auxiliary and Boy Scouts assembled at the com munity hall, then marched to the । local cemetery, headed by flag: bearers and firing squad. There services were held for the de parted comrades, and flow’er were placed on the graves by mem bers of the auxiliary. The closing prayer was given by Rev. E. C. Hicks. Returned From Bay Area turned home Monday afternoon via Southwest Airways from the Bay area where they visited their lighter. Mrs. Louis Bronson, and family. They also visited his sister, Mrs. Caeelia Chapman at San Anselmo. Mr. Ulrich’s broth- er-iufaw, Wm. Chairman. died May 11 of a heart attack. Smith River Items. Mrs. James Rooney who spent several weeks at the General hos pital, Eureka, where she under went surgery, returned home on Saturday where she is recover ing satisfactorily.
