PAGE SIX 3,090 Teachers Plan Attendance At DM*and Confab PORTLAND More than 3,000 Oregon teachers from every part of the state are expected to con- verge on Portland for the 46th annual convention of the Oregon Education Association March 31 and April 1 and 2, acording to Cecil W. Posey, executive secre tary of the group. The convention is an annual affair for Oregon teachers, pro viding opportunity for discussion of current educational problems and procedures. Prominent edu cators from several sections of the nation will appear on three general session programs which will be held in the Portland Civ ic Auditorium. Teachers will take active part in the discussions be ing held by more than tions and pdaertments of the state-wide organization. "Oregon teachers look forward to the annual convention each year as an opportunity to bring back to their classrooms new ideas and new procedures,” Posey said. "The convention mixes in a liberal amount of inspiration which gives the teacher renewed zest for his dealings with pupils." Nationally-known educators to appear on the program this year include: Dr. Harold Benjamin, dean of college of education, Uni versity of Maryland; Miss Helen HefTerman, assistant chief of the division of instruction, Califor nia State Depart ment of Educa tion; Miss Lilia Belle Pitts, au thor and professor of music ed ucation. Columbia University; Dr. A. D. Holt, executive secre tary of the Tennessee Education association, and Dr. R. H. Mont gomery, graduate professor of economics, University of Texas. Frank B.
