A.-4-H Club Discussion, Thurs. Scout Executive Dies At Roseburg Home Intense interest was shown at the joint meeting of 4-H clubs, their leaders and Parent-Teach ers Association, Thursday night, at the high school, when not only 1 large group of youngsters were present, but parents and others ’ interested in the advancement of 4-H wTork. Miss Esther Taskerud, state 4-H club agent,, was principal Äaker, and stressed the qual- 1 ities developed by and through 4-IT work. S.;? especially pointed out the credit due leaders and parents for the club successes. M r s. Aldene Roberts, county home demonstration agent, pre sented pins to first-year 4-H club members and awards to the sec-’ ond and third-year members. Pins were also presented to leaders: Mrs. Dorothy Lockland, Mrs. Joe Zumpfe, Mrs. Esther Waldien and Lynn Hampton. A five-year pin was given Mrs. Henry. Mrs. Roberts show’ed slides taken durng the county fair, of children who had won ribbons. Refreshments w’ere served to club members and parents by the teachers and room-representa tives of the third and fourth grades; Mrs. S. D. Dotson, Mrs. Ruth Carr, Mrs. C. F. Campbell, Mrs. Lillian Mathews and Mrs. Olsen. Harold Ylvisaker, of Roseburg, regional director of Boy Scouts Of America, who, on a few oc casions came to Brookings while Dave Putnam was away at an eastern training school of the Boy Scouts, died on Nov. 19, it was learned here Monday. Mr. Ylvisaker, who was also a noted band leader, had accomplished a great deal in his job with the scout organization. He is survived by his widow, and three sons.
