The Old Year
by N ancy Vincent
The year of 1947 will soon be
gone. In thus year the pupils of j
the freshm an class have com plet-:
ed the eighth grade and started
into high school. This year w as,
very different than any other, I
for one, have ever experienced.
High school w as som ething very-
new and different th an grade
school. It seems th a t our sub
jects became m ore interesting
as the m onths passed. Of course,
1947 will lx* rem em bered because
of o u r graduation in May of th a t
year.
In
1947 Brookings
H arbor
school got very’ little C hristm as
vacation because of delay in the
sta rtin g of school a t the first of
th e year. School was scheduled
to s ta rt on Septem ber 2nd. It
w as then postponed because of
fu rth e r discussion to Septem ber
15th and then the date was
changed
to
Septem ber
29th.
Both the teachers and the pupils
were» relieved when school finally
did sta rt on the 29th as sched
uled
On November 21, we w ent to
Gold Beach for the basketball
jam boree. Brookings really went
to town. Since then we have play
ed a num ber of games. A game
w ith the Mohawk High school is
„scheduled for December 31 a t our
gym.
The senior cia* s gave a d à nee
following one of the basketball
games between Brookings and
Crescent City.
Of course the new year will
hrimz m any new things to us
