New Inspector Will Be Located at Brookings SALEM — The state de partment of agriculture has arranged for the services of a full-time man in the Easter lily fields of Curry and Coos counties from now on until harvesting is completed. The assignment goes to Forrest David of Salem, who will arrive in that area Monday (April 7» and will be remain until fall. David has been making his preliminary rounds this week with Charles A. Cole, hor ticulturist with the depart ment, and well-known in the lily-growing area. The new field inspector came to Oregon last year from Kansas, w h e r e from 1923 to 1942 he was in the greenhouse and floral busi ness. This activity was in terrupted in 1942 when David went into the army. On his release in 1945 he and his father re-entered the floral business in Kansas, la ter disposing of their hold ings to come to Oregon. David has n e v e r grown Easter lilies, but has forced a good many thousand of them. Kemp As an experiment to test its popularity, Norris Kemp, owner I of the Pine Cone, himself a movie ; addict, will show "home movies” Friday and Saturday evenings. Subjects for the first showing will be views of town taken from the hill, a few closeups of vari ous buildings, and a tew grade school children at play. If its popularity is sufficient, Mr. Kemp told the Pilot he ex pected to make this a regular feature, to the extent of his pro curing 8 millimeter movie film.
