Although rain is always superior to raging forest fires, we should still celebrate the remaining days of clear skies and warm days. Deep Woods’ End of Summer Party is one way to pay tribute to summer. In what sounds like the start of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, it’s a party full of the best local liquor in the middle of Oakridge’s ancient forests. The event will feature Springfield’s Swallowtail Sprits, which offers some award-winning gins and raspberry vodka. Rolling River Spirits of Portland will have their list of spirits. And, of course, Deep Woods will have home advantage. In addition to the usual drinks, Deep Woods will introduce the uninitiated Krupnikas, Stralapeno, Fir of the Dog and Bramble. It’s not a party without music, so Phillip Austin, Kai Botak and Friends and Benny-O will provide entertainment throughout the evening — although with so much liquor flowing, it’s not hard to imagine some impromptu sing-a-longs. Best of all, the entrance fee for the event is a benefit for the Save the Butte campaign aiming to end efforts to turn TV Butte just outside of Oakridge into a gravel mine. Deep Woods Distillery’s End of Summer Distillers’ Fest is 4 to 8 pm Saturday, Sept. 22 at Deep Woods Distillery, 48217 E. 1st Street, Oakridge. $5 entrance, 21-plus. — Henry Houston COMEDY Comedy Open Mic, 8-10pm, Old Nick’s Pub, 211 Washington St. FREE FARMERS MARKET Fairmount Neighborhood Sunday Farmers Market, 10am-2pm, 19th Ave. & Agate St. FREE Little Wings Farm Stand, 10am- 2pm, Tacovore, 530 Blair Blvd. FREE Whiteaker Community Market, 11am-4pm, Whiteaker Commu- nity Market, 1111 2nd Ave. FREE Dexter Lake Farmers Market, noon-4pm, Rolling Rock Park, at the corner of Shore Dr., Lowell.
