CALENDAR With all this talk of the solar eclipse, the beauty of Mother Nature is on a lot of peoples’ minds. Luckily, if you’re in the mood, there are some opportunities this week to give back. Here’s a roundup of environmental volunteer events happening in the area. The Friends of Buford Park & Mount Pisgah group is holding a volunteer work party 8-11 am every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday through the summer at Mount Pisgah’s Native Plant Nursery, 34639 Frank Parrish Road. City of Eugene Parks and Open Space is hosting a “Pull and Paddle,” an event to pull aquatic weeds via canoe or kayak, from 8 am to noon Saturday, Aug. 19, at Delta Ponds (640 Goodpasture Island Road) and 8 am to noon Sunday, Aug. 20, at Golden Gardens (Golden Gardens Street and Jessen Drive). The Nature Conservancy is also hosting a volunteer work party at Willow Creek Preserve, 87200 Rathbone Road, from 9 am to noon Saturday, Aug. 19.
