CALENDAR Downtown Springfield will burst to life in these dog days of summer with Tap & Taste, “Springfield’s premier food and drink celebration,” according to a press release. Willamalane Park and Recreation District is putting on the event and bringing local food and drink vendors to the scene. “It’s so much fun to see downtown Springfield come alive during Tap & Taste,” says Jana Weaver, Willamalane’s special events supervisor. “It’s a wonderful party and grown-up foodie event, but it’s also a perfect opportunity to celebrate and take pride in this wonderful place we live.” There will be live music to match the event, including local musicians Breakers Yard, TLS Journey and Nate Bosford. You can also enjoy plenty of local beers and ciders for sale, plus non-alcoholic tea, juice and kombucha. Willamalane is still seeking volunteers to help with the event — contact Mavis Sanchez at 541-736-4039 to sign up. Tap & Taste is 5 to 10 pm, Saturday, Aug. 19, at Fifth and A streets in Springfield. For tickets and info, go to willamalane. org or call 541-736-4544. $12 advance, $15 at the door. — Kelly Kenoyer Ctr., 250 S. 32nd St., Spfd. $7-$9.
