ELI BOSCHETTO The 2,659-mile Pacific Crest Trail, which runs from Washington-Canada border to the Cal- ifornia-Mexico one, has recently become a bustling tourist destination. After the growing popularity of the 2014 biographical survival film Wild, based off of the 2012 memoir by Cheryl Strayed of the same name, people from all over the country — and the world — have flocked to parts of the PCT. Although hiking almost 3,000 miles might seem like an impossible feat, Oregon’s section of the trail is a mere 460. (OK, that’s still a lot.) But, if you’ve been slightly curious about the trail, or even thought about full-on hiking it, the best thing to do would be talking to someone who’s already gone on the lengthy adventure. For tips, tricks and inspiration on how to plan your own trek, author Eli Boschetto is speaking on his book Hiking The Pacific Crest Trail: Oregon and giving a presentation at Claim 52 Brewing on Wednesday evening. The event is hosted by Oregon Wild, a conservation nonprofit working to protect and restore Oregon wild lands. Oregon Wild will also be offering info about current efforts to protect wild land and wildlife throughout the state, including lands on the Pacific Crest Trail. Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in Oregon, with author Eli Boschetto, is from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, May 31, at Claim 52 Brewing (1030 Tyinn St., ste. 1). For more info visit oregonwild.org or call 541-344-0675. The event is open to all ages and FREE. — Meerah Powell Oak Hill Summer Programs ~2017~ OA ❤ Free admission & parking Free tote to the first 100 people! massage • hypnotherapy reiki • tarot • channeling astrology • coaching feng shui •crystals animal communication jewelry • therapeutic touch palm reading • acupuncture shamanic healing reflexology • mandalas ❤ Speakers ❤ Workshops ❤ ❤ Kids’ Activity Area ❤ ❤ Raffle to benefit The Trauma Healing Project Fabulous prizes for a great cause!
