Mother Nature is starting to look extra fine — flowers are blooming and the rain is becoming slightly sparser — but remem- ber to keep your own mother in mind this weekend. There are a ton of events coming up for you to enjoy with your mom, or a motherly figure in your life, during Mother’s Day weekend, both highlighted here and listed in the full calendar. First up, on Friday, May 12, support the Springfield Library Foundation and your mom by buying a Shady Oaks hanging basket for $30. Baskets will be for sale from 4 to 7 pm at the fountain in front of Springfield City Hall (225 5th St., Spfd). You can also reserve a basket ahead of time for pick up (by mailing a check to PO Box 1763, Spfd, OR 97477). There will also be raffle tickets for various prizes available. For more preparation, on Saturday, May 13, Dandelions Flowers & Gifts (1710 Chambers St.) is hold- ing “Make It For Mom,” a free flower-arranging event for kids, from 10:30 am to noon. On the big day, Sunday, May 14, wake your mom up with a good meal at the Mother’s Day Brunch at Fifth Street Market (296 E. 5th Ave). That’s going on from 8 am to 11 am in the International Cafés. There will be music, mimosas and a gift for moms, while supplies last. If she would rather get some exercise, take her to the Mother’s Day 5K, sponsored by Parenting Now! from 9 am to noon on Sunday, May 14, at Alton Baker Park. It’s $25 ahead of time and $30 the day of. Also on Sunday, Wildish Community Theater (630 Main St., Spfd) is putting on “Shakespeare’s Mums: a Bouquet of Timeless Scenes with Mothers,” a showcase of 14 scenes featuring Shakespearean mother characters. There are two matinees, one at 1:30 pm and the other at 4:30 pm. Tickets are $18-$25. — Meerah Powell Summer LISTINGS OF EVENTS FROM JUNE TO OCTOBER FROM SAN FRAN TO SEATTLE EUGENE WEEKLY’S GUIDE JUNE 1, 2017 CALL US TO ADVERTISE 541-484-0519 Platinum Girl Scout Cookies OG Kush x Durban Poison x Unknown Pheno Award Winning Diamond Cut Gem From 10/4 Farms Exclusive To Flowr Of Lyfe.
