Black Sheep Gathering Kids love Disney’s take on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale The Little Mermaid, a story in which a teenaged fish-girl trades away her voice for the chance to fall in love with a handsome rich kid. She’s got three days to make a prince fall in love with her, or a sea witch will turn her into a sentient sea vegetable. Boiled down, it sounds kinda messed up. But the songs are catchy and the characters are endearing. Plus, everything works out in the end, more or less. Director Joe Zingo brings the light, summertime family fun of Disney’s The Little Mermaid to the Actors Cabaret Theatre. Zingo’s production opens Friday, June 24 and runs through July 23. Disney’s The Little Mermaid begins at 8pm Friday and Saturday every week from June 24 to July 23 at the Actors Cabaret Theater, 996 Willamette St., 2pm Sunday matinees are scheduled for July 10th and 17th; $16-$49.
