LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations are deeply rooted to dedicated community spaces. These bars, clubs, bookstores and other spaces have served as a hub for communication, interaction and activism throughout history. We celebrate Pride for Julius’s Bar, for Gene Compton’s Cafeteria and The Black Cat Tavern. We celebrate Pride for the Stonewall Inn and The UpStairs Lounge. We celebrate for the Lexington Club, Dahl and Penne Tavern, The Lion Pub, The Palms and countless more. Even in Eugene, we celebrate Pride for Mother Kali’s, The Riviera Room, Cas- sady’s Tavern, Pearl Street Station, Perry’s, and so on. Dedicated spaces hold our history, our reminders, our mistakes, our love, and our victories. These spaces have allowed us to bravely venture out, discover, laugh, cry and immerse our- selves in the wisdom of our peers. These spaces have given us a place to feel at home with people we can consider family, a brick and mortar destination with purpose that extends beyond its walls. The Wayward Lamb seeks to continue this tradition and to maintain the history and impor- tance of dedicated, safe spaces. We are also excited to reinvent what it means to be a queer space in 2015. This is our mission and our philosophy. We take great pride in our space; we hope you will as well.
