CALENDAR If your kid is a scientist-in-the-making, be sure to check out Meet a Scientist at the Science Factory on Saturday, Feb. 1. The event that boasted over 300 visitors last year features scientists from the UO and will showcase hands-on demonstrations, including a past favorite, “Handling the Brain.” Children can expect to inter- act with scientists from the UO, explore optical illusions and build their own smartphone microscopes to take home with them. “The kids really enjoy it because there’s so many diff erent interac- tive elements happening,” says Emily Shelton, marketing and communications director of the Science Factory. And for all you science-loving parents, it’s totally acceptable to use your kids as an excuse to nerd out over cool science tricks.
