MUSIC Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Sala Garncarz Kirschner was only 16 years old when she was sent from Poland to a forced labor camp in 1940s Nazi Germany. During her fi ve years of internment at seven different camps, she managed to remain in contact with friends and family through a series of more than 300 letters that were mailed or smuggled to her from the outside world. Some of these correspondences are lengthy and prosaic, while others are hurriedly scrawled, all of them convey the spirit of strength in times of adversity. Letters to Sala, an exhibition and fi rst-hand account of holocaust survival, draws on materials from the archives of The New York Public Library and will be on display at Temple Beth Israel through March 26.
