Broadway EUGENE WEEKLY Walk it Off As always, Last Friday ArtWalk is bursting with the talented work of new and veteran artists. And per usual, rain (hail) or shine, there is more than enough rea- son to brave the elements, but in case you are in need of specifi cs, here are a few. Ninkasi Brewery will be hosting the work of Steven Lopez, a celebrated muralist and painter, perhaps best known for his After Midnight Soul series. His aesthetic often walks a tightrope between the futuristic and the prehistoric, portraying vibrant images that look as if they are straight out of a Harlan Ellison short story or some lucid fever dream. Lopez, a UO graduate and overachiever who has worked with and painted the likes of musicians Jill Scott, Erykah Badu and Akon, displays both urban and otherworldly content at the brewery — add the standard Ninkasi experience of strong, tasty beer, and you can’t go wrong. If you are more into wine than beer, cruise over to Territorial Vineyards and check out the acrylic paintings of Heather Marie Michaud. Or if you are a food- before-booze person, the Pizza Research Institite could be a good fi rst stop, where you can experience the oil paintings of Jean Denis and her “Local Faces and Places” exhibit. The Museum of Unfi ne Art, now in its tenth year, will be showing the paintings of Anj Marth, Dennis Greeley and Lisa Hill. And for you turntable junkies, The Old Whiteaker Firehouse will be hosting a vinyl record-themed art show entitled Beats and Brushstrokes. Lastly, the work of EW photographer Trask Bedortha will be hanging at Sam Bond’s. Bedortha is an avid outdoorsman and expert photographer obsessed with images that represent both beauty and savagery in the natural world. His photos will likely provide a rugged and rarely captured glimpse into the back- woods of Oregon.
