To those who’ve never attended the Asian Celebration, now in its 27th year: You’ve seriously been missing out. Saturday and Sunday the Lane Events Center will welcome the regular 18,000-plus visitors to the cultural heritage fair that is a full- blown immersion in pan-Asian food, entertainment, art, crafts and more. There’s the curatorial: the Asian Heritage Exhibit, includes photographs of the underrepresented Asian loggers of Oregon’s past, an exhibition on the 1911 bombing of the Ping Yang School in Marcola and displays on Oregon’s early Asian pioneers. There’s the delicious: dozens of vendors ready and waiting to offer you any number of tasty meals, plus cooking demos presented to all who wish to perfect their cooking technique or brush up on knowledge of Asian cuisine. And as if one needed more motivation to attend, the Community Network Room will host a series of documentary fi lms and workshops on human rights and civil liberties.
