what's happening 23 movies From soul to funk and political to party, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings put forth a wall of music so retro yet so immediate that it transports the listener to the late ‘60s — or maybe it brings the ‘60s to the present. Whatever the details of the time warp, the collaboration of the powerful singer and the house band from Daptone Records creates music (using old school analog recording equipment) with the ability to transcend time and genre. For a taste of what’s to come Tuesday, check out the tracks “I’m Not Gonna Cry” and a cover of Woody Guthrie’s “This Land is Your Land.” The Dap Kings might sound familiar from their many appearances on Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black.
