what's happening 32 movies Cartoon journalist Joe Sacco helps his subjects speak for themselves, sketching their likenesses, capturing not just their words but also the pauses between their expressions and the volumes spoken by their surroundings. He’s best known for the graphic novels Palestine, about traveling through the West Bank and Gaza Strip in 1991-92, and Footnotes in Gaza, on Sacco’s interviews in Gaza about the mass murder of Palestinians in Rafah in 1958. “Selections from Joe Sacco’s Safe Area Goražde: The War in Eastern Bosnia 1992-1995” opens at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art Tuesday, Nov. 1, and is from his book about the war and genocide from a Bosnian village isolated in Serbian territory.
